1. What’s your favourite or last holiday destination ?
Even though I've been all over the world, I would have to say Big Sur is my favorite travel destination. It is about a 6-hour drive from where I live, so it's a perfect weekend escape. It has an unbelievable coastline, waterfalls, redwoods, rolling hills and my favorite campsite backup in the hills.
Few things are as refreshing and life-giving as hiking around Redwoods during the day and ending with a beer by a fire under the huge oak trees as the sun goes down.
Other spots I love: Lofoten Islands (Norway), Banff (Alberta, Canada), Supai (Arizona) and all of Alaska.
2. Any travel tips you’d like to share ?
I'd say my biggest travel tip is to not limit yourself to campgrounds and hotels.
It might be frowned upon but most of my trips involve driving until late into the night, finding a random little spot to pull off and sleep in the back of my car and then hit it early the next day. It frees you up to go with the flow and not be restricted to a certain schedule.
If Zion or Yosemite are all booked up, I still go and make it work since most of my trips are very last minute.
3. Favourite gadget / app / technology ?
One app that is very handy on trips is the Sky Guide app. I use to see where the sunrise, sunset, moon and milky way will be at certain times of the day/night.
4. When your cooking at home - what’s your "go to" dish ?
When I'm back at home cooking with friends, my go-to meal is shrimp or carne asada tacos.
5. Where are you sending people ?
A few places to check out (I'll stick to my hometown in Newport Beach, Ca): I would say Almond Surfboards which is where I work, Bear Flag Fish Company has amazing food, my buddies get some unbelievable shots with their whale tour company @newportcoastaladventures, and Catalina Island for great hiking/diving and camping.
Jeffrey Allee was Born in Newport Beach, California. He work's full-time at Almond Surfboards & Designs and does freelance photography on the side.
His main passions right now are Surf/Diving Photography, getting away from the computer as much as possible, camping on the weekends and cultivating friendships along the way.
